Shikhar Dhawan Injury Update: MI vs PBKS LIVE – Punjab Kings will be again without their skipper Shikhar Dhawan as they face the Mumbai Indians on Saturday. The game at the Wankhede comes too soon for the veteran opener, who is nursing a shoulder injury. Dhawan sustained a shoulder injury during Punjab King’s match against Gujarat Titans on April 13. Despite missing two matches since then, he is still among the top five most prolific batters this season. He has scored 233 runs in four matches at 116.50. In his absence, PBKS have faltered with the bat in hand and have won 1 and lost 1 game.

“It should take around 2-3 days more,” PBKS’ fielding coach Trevor Gonsalves told the media when asked about Dhawan’s injury update after the RCB game.

While he did not rule Dhawan out officially, Sam Curran mentioned that Dhawan would at least miss another match with an injury. In his absence, Punjab Kings have roped in Atharva Taide and Harpreet Bhatia, both failing to make a mark. Dhawan’s free flowing strokeplay and his ability to find the gaps will be sorely missed at the Wankhede on Saturday.

Dhawan was in contention to feature against RCB but did not meet the fitness requirements to make it to the XI. Punjab have been grappled by injuries with Liam Livingstone only making his first IPL appearance on Thursday. Kagiso Rabada has featured sporadically, while Jonny Bairstow was ruled out of the competition.

Mumbai Indians will be looking to build on their recent success and record their fourth straight victory of the season when they play injury-plagued Punjab Kings in game 31 of the Indian Premier League 2023 on Saturday, April 22. After suffering back-to-back losses, Rohit Sharma & Co recovered well to win three straight games and move up the IPL 2023 Points Table. On the other side, PBKS haven’t been consistent thus far in the season. Dhawan’s unavailability has hurt them but the franchise will aim to arrest their slide on Saturday.
