Shardul Thakur likely to miss IND vs WI 1st ODI with groin injury, Axar to get nod

Team India all-rounder Shardul Thakur is likely to miss IND vs WI 1st ODI set to be played on July 27 in Barbados. Notably, Shardul was ruled out of the IND vs WI 2nd Test after suffering a groin injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement after toss and gave an update on Shardul’s injury.

However, there has been no further updates on Shardul’s injury which suggests that the Indian all-rounder is still recovering and will likely to miss the 1st ODI.

Axar Patel likely to replace Shardul in XI

All-rounder Axar Patel is likely to replace Shardul Thakur for IND vs WI 1st ODI. Axar has been in great form, especially with the bat, and has been among wickets in crucial moments for Team India.

Meanwhile, Shardul hasn’t contributed much in the series so far. The all-rounder has played only 1st Test on the tour where he bowled only seven overs in the first innings and took one wicket. He didn’t get a chance to bat as India declared at 421/5.

He last played an ODI on March 17 in India vs Australia 1st ODI where he bowled only 2 overs.
