England has announced a 15-man provisional squad for the World Cup 2023. All-rounder Ben Stokes, who took retirement from ODIs last year, has returned to the squad. Meanwhile, attacking batter Harry Brook has been dropped from the squad. Notably, Australia were the first team to announce their preliminary World Cup 2023 squad. Pacer Pat Cummins will lead the Men in Yellow. The most notable exclusion from Australia’s squad is Test star Marnus Labuschagne.
Notably, The International Cricket Council (ICC) has set 3 deadlines to announce the final 15-member squad.
Teams can submit their preliminary squad by August 29. Notably, teams do not have to formally submit their provisional World Cup squad to the ICC until September 5. Further changes can be made up until 28 September. However, any replacements after September 28 will need approval from the ICC.
“The initial squad submission deadlines at our tournaments are 30 days before the support periods start. The support periods start one week before the tournaments,” ICC informed InsideSport.
“Changes may be made before the support period without seeking permission, but once the support period kicks in, the Event Technical Committee needs to approve replacements,” ICC added.

Till now, only Australia and England have announced their preliminary squad. Notably, these are provisional squads and the teams are allowed to make changes till September 28.
