“Scapegoat”, Fans question team selection after Sanju Samson’s snub from IND vs AUS ODIs

Team India on Monday announced the squad for IND vs AUS 3-match ODI series which is starting on September 22. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad via virtual press conference. KL Rahul was named captain for the first two games with number of senior players rested. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikad and Tilak Varma were also included for the first two matches. However, Sanju Samson could still not make the cut which left many fans frustrated.

Neither played Asia Cup, nor in the World Cup squad. Not even picked for 3rd string Asian Games team and now missing out on Indian team against Australia where major players are rested and some newbies included.

Notably, both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma are part of the squad for the Asian Games set to begin on September 19. However, Team India will directly play the quarterfinal on October 3.

Sanju Samson, on the other hand, was picked as a reserve for Asia Cup 2023 and is not part of the Asian Games and the World Cup squad.
