Kane Williamson, the captain, and veteran bowler Tim Southee have been named to the New Zealand squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. The duo has joined a unique group of athletes who have been chosen for four or more ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups.
At an event this morning at Ish Sodhi’s old school, Auckland’s Papatoetoe High School, the experienced New Zealand squad was announced ahead of the Worlds Cup 2023, which starts on October 5 in India.
Six players that have been chosen for the event for the first time join Williamson and Southee, who played for the BLACKCAPS the last time the tournament was hosted in India in 2011.
After previously being included in T20 World Cup squads, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, and Glenn Phillips are included in the squad for the first time for the One Day World Cup.
