The much-awaited India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK) clash will be played today in the ICC World Cup at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have had a good start to their WC campaign as they have won both the opening games. India beat Australia and Afghanistan, while Pakistan won against Netherlands and Sri Lanka. Both India and Pakistan have momentum, and it is all about continuing the same form. However, India does hold the upper hand as Pakistan are yet to beat India in the WC.
The two sides have clashed seven times in the showpiece event since 1992, and each time India has managed to outwit their rivals with bat and ball. Although the hype of IND vs PAK is massive, the seven contests in the WC have all been fairly one-sided encounters. The last time in 2019, India thrashed Pakistan by 89 runs. Rohit Sharma scored a blazing 140 and bossed the PAK bowlers.

While this time around Pakistan’s batting looks much more balanced than the 2019 one, India have a huge advantage of knowing Ahmedabad conditions well.
IND vs PAK: Shubman Gill in focus, as Rohit Sharma & Co get ready for Pakistan clash
All eyes will be on Shubman Gill whether he has recovered from the dengue. Skipper Rohit Sharma said that he has recovered 99% and is almost in line to play his first WC match. Having Gill playing in Ahmedabad will be a massive advantage for India as he knows the conditions in Ahmedabad in and out. The 24-year-old plays for Gujarat Titans in IPL and Ahmedabad is their home venue.
Apart from Gill, India also have to take a call on playing Shardul Thakur or Ashwin. With conditions at Narendra Modi Stadium not favoring spin more, Shardul is likely to keep his place in the playing XI.
