After the match, Arshdeep Singh spoke about his antics with the ball in the final over. The left-arm pacer said that he backed his basics and credited the bowlers for achieving an over-par total on a slightly tricky strip of the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“To be honest, before the final over, I thought, I gave away too many runs in the first three overs. But thanks for the belief shown by the captain, team and the coaches for backing me up. I just got some confidence back and stuck to my basics. Credit should go to the batters for giving that extra 15-20 runs cushion for us in the end,” said Arshdeep Singh after the IND vs AUS 5th T20.
I said it was only par total (chuckles back at Iyer). I think it was just a par series for me personally. I need to rethink and perform even better in the future. I will take all the learnings from this series. The bowling wasn’t near par, according to the standards of the Indian team, but a lot of lessons learnt but I will come back from the mistakes,” he added.
