IPL 2024 Auction: Check remaining purse of CSK, DC, GT, KKR, LSG, MI, PBKS, RCB, RR, SRH

IPL 2024 Auction: Check Remaining Purse of CSK, DC, GT, KKR, LSG, MI, PBKS, RCB, RR, SRH as IPL Auction 2024 set for Dec 19 in Dubai.

With 77 slots to fill including 30 foreign players, IPL 2024 Auction is set for December 19 in Dubai. Franchises will have a total of Rs 262.95 Crore to play with after adding Rs 5 Cr to each team’s purse. But 2022 champion Gujarat Titans will be the one to watch out for as they will go with the highest purse of Rs 38.15 Crore having traded captain Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians. Sunrisers Hyderabad who have retained most of the players will go with Rs 34 Crore with only six slots to fill.

Kolkata Knight Riders will again be very active in the IPL 2024 Auction. KKR have 12 slots to fill including four foreign players and have 32.7 Crore to play with. The release of Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson freed up a combined Rs 20.75 Crore. However, KKR must rebuild their entire bowling attack with that fund.

Similarly, Chennai Super Kings who will go into the IPL 2024 auction with Rs 31.4 Cr will have to find replacements for Ben Stokes and Ambati Rayudu. The England Test captain has withdrawn from IPL after undergoing surgery. As for Rayudu, the middle-order maestro has retired from IPL. The release of Kyle Jamieson did come as a shock. But the MS Dhoni-led team will try to bring back their former pacer Shardul Thakur, who is available at the auction. Rachin Ravindra could also be their big target or an Indian batter like Manish Pandey.

Delhi Capitals also need an overhaul of sorts. With nine slots to fill, they desperately need a wicketkeeper batter from IPL 2024 Auction. Even though captain Rishabh Pant is set for a comeback, it is unlikely he will begin keeping wickets anytime soon.

With Travis Head available at the auction, their prime target could be Australia’s World Cup hero, especially with Ricky Ponting at the helm. Bringing back KS Bharat could be an option or go for someone like Kusal Mendis. The Sri Lankan batter was in excellent form in the World Cup. Another option could be hard-hitter Josh Inglis at the IPL 2024 Auction.

Lucknow Super Giants will be a mute spectator with just Rs 13.15 Cr available in the purse.

Yuzvendra Chahal scalps four-fer in Vijay Hazare Trophy as warm-up for IND vs SA ODI series

Yuzvendra Chahal scalped four-fer in Vijay Hazare Trophy as perfect warmup for India vs South Africa (IND vs SA) ODI series

Yuzvendra Chahal travels to South Africa after sending Haryana into the semi-finals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The veteran spinner bagged a four-fer as he is set to join the India Cricket Team for the upcoming IND vs ODI matches. After back-to-back snubs from the Men in Blue, Chahal has finally been included in the team for the ODIs.

Chahal has been overlooked by the Indian Cricket Team for quite some time now. He last played for the national colours against West Indies, before the ODI World Cup and the Asia Cup. But now he has got his chance to prove but in the ODI series.

But Chahal has been preparing well behind the scenes. His latest advent in the Vijay Hazare Trophy saw the veteran spinner demolishing Bengal. Chahal 4/37 to help Haryana seal their spot in the semis berth of the tournament. The star who received the Player of the Match award has taken to social media to say he will support his side from South Africa.

We’ve come this far, let’s get the job done 🙌 Will be rooting for us Haryana, from Johannesburg! 🫶,” wrote Chahal on Twitter.

As the T20 World Cup draws near, it can be understood that Chahal is not in the grand scheme of things as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned. But it is not all over for him. He still has these 3 ODI matches to prove his worth, that too on foreign soil.

Moreover, Yuzvendra Chahal will also get IPL 2024. Should he go on to bag the purple cap like e did 2 seasons back, he will surely give the BCCI selectors a big headache in terms of squad selection.

1 match wasted, 5 more to go! Clock ticks away for India Cricket Team as T20 World Cup approaches

1 match wasted, 5 more to go! Crucial gametime lost for India Cricket Team ahead of T20 World Cup as IND vs SA 1st T20I called off

The T20 World Cup preparations for the India Cricket Team took a hefty tumble as the India vs South Africa (IND vs SA) 1st T20I got abandoned due to rain. With just 5 matches now remaining ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Men in Blue lost some much-needed game time. Heading into the IND vs SA series, India had 6 matches remaining before the 2024 T20 WC.

India is slated to play three T20I matches against the Proteas. Following the conclusion of the series, the Men in Blue will engage in a 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home in January.

The priorities are set for the Men in Blue. After losing out in the ODI World Cup finals, the India Cricket Team is now keen to clinch the T20 World Cup title. But as for the India Cricket team’s schedule is set, there aren’t many T20I matches left. Moreover, today’s game that got wasted was a chance missed for Rahul Dravid to try out his permutations and combinations.

India will hope that the remaining 5 matches don’t get curtailed owing to rain. But it is not all gloomy for the players who will get an extensive IPL 2024 campaign before traveling to the USA and West Indies for the T20 World Cup.

As for the IND vs SA series, the second match will be held at St George’s Park on 12 th December while the final game of the series will commence on 14th December at New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

‘Common sense’, Sanjay Manjrekar slams CSA for scheduling ODI series in a T20 WC season

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar criticised Cricket South Africa (CSA) for scheduling a 3-match IND vs SA ODI series in a T20 World Cup season. Notably, Team India are just left with 5 T20Is before the start of T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Speaking to Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar slammed the South African cricket board, saying that CSA could have some kind of common sense before scheduling the white-leg series.

“We were talking about cricket South Africa, whether they could have done something different. Now, this is something they can do. This is within their control. What is the point of having three one day International’s after three T20s? When the next World Cup is going to be a T20 World Cup”, Manjrekar said.

The former cricketer suggested that the Proteas board should have chatted with both teams and investors to find out whether they would have liked to see more T20Is.

Just maybe have a chat with the teams and all the investors into this series. And find out whether they would like to see, maybe, six T20s because it’s T20 International season, right?”, Manjrekar added.

The 58-year-old further added that nobody is going to remember the result of the 3-match ODI series.

“Nobody’s going to remember the result and what happened in those matches because nobody cares. T20 Cricket is on everyone’s mind”, Manjrekar concluded.

Sophie Ecclestone

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone continued her good run in the ongoing IND W vs ENG W T20 series on Saturday (December 9). Earlier in the match, England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to bowl first. None of the Indian batters even the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur could not much with the bat. Rodrigues played a valiant knock of 30 runs but she never looked in control during her innings. As a result, Indian women’s team got bundled out for 80, their third lowest T20 score.

It was a straightforward chase for the England batting order who had hit over 190 on the same surface a few nights ago. The visitors lost six wickets before chasing the target down.

After the fall of both openers, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey continued the assault and added 41 runs for the third wicket clinching the game completely from the Indian side. Pooja Vastrakar broke the stand with 20 more runs required. Deepti Sharma also went on to scalp back-to-back wickets. However, Ecclestone and skipper Heather Knight completed the chase quite easily in the end.

But as she will look to bounce back, there is no better platform than MI. Exploring options like Mannat Kashyap or targeting Devika Vaidya could fortify Mumbai Indians’ batting lineup. Considering Mumbai’s relatively smaller purse, the team might strategically look for cost-effective but impactful players.
