WATCH: Sophie Ecclestone plucks a screamer off her own bowling in IND W vs ENG 2nd T20I

Sophie Ecclestone

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone continued her good run in the ongoing IND W vs ENG W T20 series on Saturday (December 9). After a match-winning spell in the first IND W vs ENG W match, Sophie Ecclestone scalped two wickets in the second game as well. Meanwhile, she also plucked a one-handed blinder to dismiss wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh.

In the seventh over, Ecclestone delivered a full ball aimed at the off-stump. The ball held on the pitch, prompting Ghosh to push forward for a defensive shot. But the ball, hit hard and raced towards Ecclestone’s left. The left-arm spinner moved swiftly to her left and plucked the ball just when it was about to touch the ground and completed a remarkable return catch.

Earlier in the match, England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to bowl first. None of the Indian batters even the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur could not much with the bat. Rodrigues played a valiant knock of 30 runs but she never looked in control during her innings. As a result, Indian women’s team got bundled out for 80, their third lowest T20 score.

It was a straightforward chase for the England batting order who had hit over 190 on the same surface a few nights ago. The visitors lost six wickets before chasing the target down.

After the fall of both openers, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey continued the assault and added 41 runs for the third wicket clinching the game completely from the Indian side. Pooja Vastrakar broke the stand with 20 more runs required. Deepti Sharma also went on to scalp back-to-back wickets. However, Ecclestone and skipper Heather Knight completed the chase quite easily in the end.
